Baptism in Tarimbaro... November 28, 2016

Hey Everyone! so this week was Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper sweet!! we have been once again working like angels( we dont work like devils because thats bad haha). We were able to meet the goal once again of 50 lessons!! so we have been working really really hard this week! and on top of that we had a baptism!! it was so crazy too! we put the goal last week of having a baptism, but honestly we didnt have alot of faith and didnt think it was gonna happen just cuz its been really hard to find this investigator at home so we havent been able to teach alot! but we visited her EVERY SINGLE DAY and we really pumped her up for her baptism and IT HAPPENED!! Her Name is Maria Elena Vazquez Torres, Shes a really nice lady, her son is actually on a mission right now! before she got baptized her son was the only member of the family. Her husband said he doesnt wanna change, but were gonna work some magic on him and see if we cant get him in the waters as well;) she has two more daughters as well(the little girl in the picture is her granddaughter) so were going to keep working with the whole family. The baptism was a little stressful because like typical people down here, the baptism started at 7, and at 7 oclock only our investigator with her family and me and my companion were in the church haha. eventually our ward mission leader showed up and then another family showed up to help us out with a few things and finally the sister missionaries showed up with another family. so the baptism had a small turnout but we started at 745 and it was great! After her baptism she shared her testimony, and she talked about how a long time ago she prayed for a change in her life because her family wasnt doing good and they were in some bad things. Then she talked about how her son was baptized and now she is too and also how she hopes that her husband and daughters will one day be baptized and that they can be an eternal family!! so me and my companion are really happy about that! and i was able to confirm her in sacrement meeting the next day! Besides that not a whole lot happened this week, just alot of work! If anyone remembers Elder Menchu from my last area, he is with me again! hes training a new elder in our zone and so im happy to get to work with him again and tuesday night they arrived at our house and we were able to welcome them to the zone! Thanksgiving here was pretty good! in case you didnt know they dont celebrate it here in Mexico, but i was able to have a Thanksgiving lunch/dinner with a family that used to live in the States. It wasnt a full blown thanksgiving dinner like im used to, but i sure am grateful for what we were able to do!! and then finally we had divisions this week with one of the district leaders and that went really well!! So yeah thats about it for this week! this next week should be great as well since we get to give alot of trainings and meetings and i should be seeing alot of old friends this week! Im loving the mission and i love life and i couldnt be happier!! thanks for all of your emails and i hope you all have a great week!! Love Elder Griffin

Transfers! I don't have any..

Hey everyone! Well the good news of this week is that transfers were today! Thankfully though i didnt have any! I get to stay here in the best area of the mission and Elder Bocanegra is staying with me! im also really happy about these transfers because Elder Menchu is going to train in my zone! if you dont remember him he was in my last district and i love that guy a ton!  i was also really happy to be able to see Elder Herrmann this morning, as he had transfers and will be leaving morelia, but he will become a zone leader in chapala! Oh and since were zone leaders the transfers were extra stressfull haha. Yesterday we didnt get to bed till about 11 trying to plan everything, and we had to get up at 515 to go to the bus center and recieve a missionary that was traveling. just our luck, his bus got pushed back about an hour so we got up early for nothing haha. Oh i love life! Besides that not a whole lot happened this week. Tuesday we had our zone meeting and it was awesome like always! we pumped up the missionaries to get out and get to work and do it with all their heart and might and mind and strength! were also really looking forward to all the christmas activities that are coming up! we have so many things planned that we are going to do and im really looking forward to it all! were going to do christmas skits, and visit a center for kids with special needs, and were going to do whats called a "big Bang" and basically just attract the attention as many people as we can in areas that have alot of people passing by. so this next transfer ahead has alot of work prepared for us! on friday we also had the opportunity to do divisions with Elder Santiago and Elder Anderson again as they needed me to do a baptismal interview for them. Yeah that was all that happened this week besides work work work!! Thanksgiving is this week and i hope you all enjoy spending time with family and loved ones and enjoy this holiday season! I hope you all have a great week and may the lord watch over you and your family! Love Elder Griffin

Elder Griffin said his companion told him noone would wear these old shirts... they are yellow and you should just burn them!  So they did.....

I love the mission!! November 14, 2016

Hey everyone!! so this week has been another absolutely awesome week!! On Tuesday we traveled to Guadalajara and we went to the temple! at first i was worried we weren't gonna be able to enter since my companion forgot his recommend(just my luck right?) but then we had good luck and they were able to look up his records and all went well!! The temple is really small honestly haha, but of course like any temple it was so beautiful and magnificent and i loved the feeling i felt while i was inside!! i really wish i could go every month, but sadly we can only go 4 times on the mission, so im going to use the other 3 visits i have wisely. Then afterward the temple to keep the good feelings going me and my companion went to dairy queen haha, good stuff right there. Then that night since zone leaders are crazy(i can testify of this since im one of them) we spent 660 pesos and bought 2 kilos( about 4.4 pounds) of taco meat! man that was a good night haha. i love the mission for so many reasons i cant count!!! Wednesday was cool since we had the leadership council, man those things are really long though haha. just confirms the fact that i could not have an office job and be sitting all day. I do have a sad announcement though, ive always apologized in advance in case i dont get to write everyone in a week, but now i mean it because the president has put a new rule that we cannot write for longer than 2 and a half hours, and before we didn't have that rule, so again, i apologize in advance haha. Another story of "just my luck" coming home that night our bus broke down haha. so instead of getting home at 12 like we had hoped which would have been "early", we got home at 115 in the morning. its safe to say im a tired missionary haha. Then Thursday was a long day since we were tired haha. Friday we had divisions with some other elders here and that was alright. And yesterday we had the chance to listen to Elder Russell M. Nelson talk to all of mexico, IN SPANISH!! He spoke pretty good spanish honestly it was so cool! it was a very special area conference for all of mexico and they basically told everyone down here to be self sufficient and keep the commandments. So that was a really cool conference as well! the stake presidency is seriously the best here, because for the new Christmas video and initiative they are going to help us out 100% with lots of cool activities and supporting us by telling the members to help and its just so great to have them helping us out! and then today we had a fun zone activity! we played soccer, and then some little minigames i guess you could call them, and then we started playing kickball, but it ended after a sister missionary got hit in the face with the ball haha. tomorrow were going to have a zone meeting which im pumped for and then a week without distractions so we can work at full speed! well thats a small summary of the mission for ya! and im loving it 100% and im so happy to be here!! Thanks everyone for all of your love and support and prayers! they mean the world to me! have a great week! Love Elder Griffin
